The Callaway Apex Utility Wood has been designed to combine the best features of a high loft fairway wood with the best of what a hybrid has to offer.
The club has been designed in a compact profile that has been chosen because of the way that golfers can shape their shots for enhanced control. Club lengths are set between a fairway wood and a hybrid, allowing for versatile playability while still being easier to hit.
With almost 18 grams of tungsten weighting being placed in the head of the club, the centre of gravity has been made neutral to provide players with high launch, steeper landing angles and brilliant spin. This has also been paired with Callaways Jailbreak A.I. Velocity Blades that not only stiffen the sole of the club for more speed on shots that are hit lower on the face, but also allow for the Face Cup to flex to create better spin and much more forgiveness.
All this works with the C300 Maraging steel face that has been designed by A.I to generate higher ball speeds on both on and off centre hits, while creating plenty of spin across the whole face.
Callaway worked with world-class pros like Phil Mickelson and Xander Schauffele to get their feedback so that a multi-purpose club could be created that better players can rely on from the tee, fairway, or in the rough.

High Velocity Ball Speeds
Our Jailbreak A.I. Velocity Blades are engineered to increase vertical stiffness near the sole of the club, creating more speed low on the face where players often mishit their hybrids. These blades allow the Face Cup to flex on the crown for better spin rate consistency, and the bars are spread to enhance torsional stiffness, leading to more forgiveness across the face.
