Golf Clothes

Playing golf isn’t just about your game, but also about the clothes you wear on the green. Your game is not only affected by your skills, but can also be affected by your golf clothes. Choosing and wearing the correct clothes is very important to your golf game. This is especially true if you are playing at a club with a strict dress clothes, or with a party of very important people.

With just a few simple tips, you can ensure you choose the right golf clothes to wear the next time you step foot on the green. If you plan to play a round of golf with a strict dress code, there are a few things you should know.

Most codes require golfers to wear a collared golf shirt. If you aren’t sure what type is acceptable, choose a shirt that is made specifically for the game by a well-known golf clothing brand.

Shorts are usually acceptable, but only certain kinds will do. Gym shorts or scraggly cut-offs aren’t appropriate for the green. Those designed specifically for golf that fall no higher than right above your knee are the correct type to choose.

One rule of thumb to remember is that denim is a material usually not suited for the golf course. Even if the shorts are the right length, or your denim shirt has a collar, it isn’t appropriate.

When choosing pants or shorts to wear on your next golf outing, choose a pair that has belt loops. But avoid pants will cuffs since you’ll likely find them filled with dirt and sand. The socks you choose should match your pants, not your shoes. Speaking of belt loops, leather belts are best to wear.

You’ll notice that golf clothing has a tendency to be bright and sometimes outlandish. It’s ok to wear the bright colors that are available, but don’t feel as if you must build your whole outfit out of them. Choose a key piece or two in a bright color to make a classy statement.

Shoes are a very important part of golf clothes. Sandals and sneakers are quite inappropriate. Shoes with soft spikes or with a tread design in the sole are best. You can bring regular street shoes with you, but you should only wear them in the clubhouse, not on the green.

Hats are always a good idea to wear on the green. They’ll help to shield your eyes from the sun so you won’t miss an important shot. Straw hats or baseball caps are your best bet. Dressing appropriate will not only make you look good, but can ensure your game is well-played, too.
